Adoption Resources offers a variety of programs to assist individuals and couples pursuing adoption. We are licensed in Massachusetts to provide domestic and international placement services, as well as a wide range of ongoing educational and support programs to meet the changing needs of our adoptive families.

We work with prospective adoptive parents from diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, making certain that each adopted child is placed in an appropriate permanent and loving home. Although we are located in Waltham, we have staff in Western Massachusetts and Cape Cod to better serve people in those areas.

Our experienced, professional staff, many of whom have a personal connection to adoption, will answer any questions you might have. We invite all prospective adoptive families to attend one of our monthly orientation sessions to learn more about the adoption process and to become better acquainted with us.

Our years of experience will support you as you select a program that is best suited to your needs. We encourage you to explore both our domestic and international programs and are delighted to have you pursue more than one program option - we will work with you to design a plan that is appropriate for you.

Of course, one of the most important questions that many pre-adoptive parents have is how long will it take. The time to complete an adoption may vary tremendously - please feel free to contact us at the time you are ready to start the application process to get the most current information about expected placement times.

Agency Domestic Adoption
Adoption Resources offers a program of "traditional" newborn domestic adoption. We network in Massachusetts and throughout the country to provide counseling and placement services to pregnant women and to match them with waiting adoptive families. Our resources include advertising, as well as direct referrals from physicians and other health care providers, health services, and attorneys.

Adoptive families receive a full range of services, including the completion of a homestudy, educational programs, ongoing support, and post placement supervision, in addition to all necessary legal procedures to complete an adoption. Our staff provides one-on-one assistance for families completing photo-albums and "birth parent" letters that are used during the matching process.

Birth parents work with Adoption Resources to select an adoptive family for their child. In addition to reading letters and looking at photo albums, they receive a detailed, but non-identifying descriptions of the families. In most cases, adoptive parents and birth parents want to meet each other. These meetings are done with a counselor, using first names without identifying information.

Upon completion of your homestudy, if you wish to be in the pool of families to be considered for a placement through our Agency Domestic Adoption Program, you will be asked to sign our contract and pay an initial fee.

Minority and Special Needs Adoption
Adoption Resources has a strong program to find homes for minority children and children at risk for special needs. A new program, The Lindelil Fund, has been established to provide financial assistance if needed for parents interested in this type of adoption.

Parent Identified/Designated Adoptions
Many prospective adoptive parents want to take a proactive approach or wish to pursue more than one route to creating or adding to their families. Through our Parent Identified/Designated Adoption Program, we assist families in exploring other avenues, including selecting an out-of-state agency, attorney, or networking service to help facilitate your locating birth parents with whom you would like to work towards making an adoption plan. We have a growing network of these resources. In addition to conducting your homestudy and providing post placement services, we will help you select those resources which are most appropriate for you.

The Agency's fee for assisting with a Parent Identified/Designated Adoption varies depending on the extent of the services provided.

International Adoption
Welcome to Adoption Resources' International Program. We are pleased to offer adoptive families a full range of services, geared towards assisting you throughout the process of adopting a child from another country as well as meeting your individual needs. Adoption Resources has a direct placement program in Russia . We are also a partnering agency of Children's Home Society of Minnesota, which has more than a dozen programs in Europe , Asia and South America . We are also pleased to offer strong links to agencies working specifically in a variety of other countries. In many countries, there is a very short wait after receipt of your documents until a child is assigned.

We strongly encourage all pre-adoptive parents to attend our monthly orientation program on alternate first Tuesdays of the month. This meeting will introduce you to all of our programs and we can answer many of the questions that you might have about the adoption process and your options.

Our staff will help you with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) approval process, which is the first step in any international adoption. We will also help you to prepare your forms for whatever country you choose.

If you are considering an international adoption, we suggest that you contact INS at 1-800-870-3676 and request I600 and I600A forms. Our staff will help you to complete these forms.
